The Generic SN9CXXX driver has been updated with cleanups and works with more applications. Furthermore, now it supports multiple opens, meaning that you can use your webcam from various "panel" applications at the same time. For instance, you can change the camera settings with videoview (I use "alltray" to dock it onto the system tray), while getting the video stream with another application.

The Generic SN9CXXX V4L1/V4L2 driver will be out soon with many more webcams supported and lots of improvements in the video quality.

The generic SN9CXXX driver v2.07 for *Ubuntu Linux and PCLinuxOS 2007is out with some bugfixes and generic improvements in the image quality of some webcams. It is highly suggested that you upgrade. For new hardware to be supported, please wait for next releases.
