ALi USB2 M5603C support Hi,
Has there been any update on this? I have one in my Asus W5A laptop, and I'd like to try out whatever driver you've got so far. Thanks. |

Re: ALi USB2 M5603C support Allow me to join in on this question; same laptop, same camera. Does anything exist for this bridge yet? Anything we can provide to help?

Re: ALi USB2 M5603C support Yes, I'm also very interested in a driver for this. For now I have a quite ugly dead piece of glass and metal pointing at me from the top of my Asus W5A screen....
So this is just to say that there are people who really would like to have a driver for it :) |

Re: ALi USB2 M5603C support Hi,
I have a Asus laptop, an A6000, with this webcam, i think the development of this driver started on 2005, 20th of april. But there is no news about its status. Could the developers tell us something about? |

Re: ALi USB2 M5603C support Hi,
I would like to ask if it is possible to get some status rapport on this driver. I have read that it's difficult to get any information about the chip. If the driver is worked on and will soon be ready for people to try out, that would be great. If it is not worked on, people should know, so that someone else might take the project over. As long as it says here that the driver is under development, noone else will start a new project. Since there is no information, it is difficult to know what is happening. Before I saw this page, I was considering learning how to write kernel drivers just to make my webcamera work. It sits and stares at me from the top of my lcd screen and I hate telling everyone that there's no driver in Linux for it yet, but I've heard that someone working on it. I think there are quite a lot of people who need this driver, and we're very interested in hearing what is happening. Regards, Robert Emil Berge |

Re: ALi USB2 M5603C support The developemnt is suspended for now. The skeleton of the driver is ready, but there are some problems with the initialization part which make the driver unuseful at the moment.

Re: ALi USB2 M5603C support Are you planning to release the source for this driver? If you are, maybe it's a good idea to make the skeleton available. I at least wouldn't mind devoting some time to it, either by trying to figure out how it can work myself, or much better and more realistically, help you out if there are some testing / other tasks you know have to be done for the driver to work. I do have quite a lot of programming experience many years ago, but at least, at that time I did program hardware directly, since there weren't really any drivers, and the specifications came in a book.
So, I'd really like to hear what you think. |
