I have a lenovo n100 which I think has the subject camera. Will SN9C10x driver support this, suspects not,

Anyone working on a linux driver for the this camera?

Thanks

Re: SN9C201
I too have been unable to find a driver for this web cam, of coarse until this week I thought it was the sn9c102p web cam. I'm not a satisfied Sonix customer - I wouldn't consider purchasing another cam from them. It is a royal pain in the ass to even figure out what this cam is based on using its USB ID. (nov 06)

Mine ID 0c45:627b Microdia

A search for 0c45:627b returned: http://rsuinux.free.fr/luxya/webcam-luxya.html which has the right picture of the cam saying "This is well sn9c201 module," I now believe it is not an sn9c102p, because the sn9c102p, doesn't have usb2, and this yeilds this in syslog:
"usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2"

I'm also going to throw in this post a little something for those that need to find this reply with a google: This camera has 6 autosensing lights. ( Which you have no software control over they don't ever shut off, they drain usb power and go off based on a light-detection-switch )

Btw links to Sonix provided data:

Hi there..
It seems not to be the same driver - 201 is different to 102.

I have the same laptop and it also doesnt work.

If someone have information on the camera called like the topic here please post information here!!

I can also provide you with developer material if you workin on it, since I have a developer access @ Sonix

Re: SN9C201
Could I get a copy please? I've tried registering on Sonix's website, and got an email saying welcome, activated, access granted etc, but I still can't find anything except the drivers, and the 'spec' 2 page PDF that shows a block diagram & list of features...

Are there proper programming docs available?

Re: SN9C201
Hi,

I've been trying to find information on the SN9C201 chip to determine what is involved in writing a driver for this chip (like you, I have a laptop with one of these chips).

Do you have access to the data sheets and application notes for this chip ? I've tried emailing Sonix for this material, but they have not been particularly helpful.

Thanks,

Sean

See my message about a camera using this bridge here:

http://www.linux-projects.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=thread&topic_id=258&forum=3&post_id=1032#1032

Perhaphs it helps? If there's anything I could do, I repeat, I will gladly provide my time and help.

Cheers,

Re: SN9C201
Luca just released a driver for SN9C2XX. Anyone tried yet? Any success?

I gave it a go, installed it, but modprobe return an error. I insmod it, but still couldn't modprobe it. videoview couldnt detect the webcam, so it didnt do the job for me.

Anyone has more information about supported webcams? Mine is 0c45:6270 Microdia.

Re: SN9C201
You cannot modprobe the module as I probably forgot to put a "/sbin/depmod -ae" after the installation of the package to let the system be aware of the new module. Run depmod manually. Your webcam is not supported at the moment. But keep an eye on the development, since it's proceeding well.

Re: SN9C201
Hi luca,
will there be an open source version of this driver one day, which could then make it into the linux kernel, like the other drivers on this website?

I use Gentoo linux and have a custom built kernel and doubt that the binary will work with it. Although I have to admit, I didn't try, yet, because I saw in your post that my camera is not supported.

Thanks a lot for the great effort you did! I really appreciate that and hope that soon I'll be able to use my webcam with linux!
